MILESTONES

For more than 40 years the company has experienced phenomenal and sustained growth at the forefront of Indonesia's writing instrument industry. Originally founded as a trading company in 1962, the Standard Pen Manufacturing Company started supplying writing instrument refills to the Indonesian domestic market in 1969.

In 1985, the company was incorporated and became PT Merpati Mahkota Sarana (PT MMS) whilst maintaining its brand name of STANDARD. In that same year, the founder of the company, Dr C S Jung, became the Chairman and his son, Megusdyan Susanto, became the Chief Executive Officer. The company's future developments and successes were sealed with the launching of STANDARD brand products, early in 1986. In 1989, PT MMS moved into a new custom-built factory in the Tangerang industrial area, about 35 kilometers from Jakarta. In the following year, the completion of two expansion programs, both of which were specifically designed to meet the continuing demand for STANDARD brand products, were realized.

The year of 1994 saw the founding of the US branch of STANDARD. The cooperation between the two countries led to a new product awareness in other countries including Canada, USA and Mexico. A rapid increase in business followed and a healthy percentage of Standard's total sales are now accounted for in exported goods.

In 1989, PT MMS moved into a new larger custom-built factory in the Tangerang industrial area, about 35 kilometers from Jakarta. In the following year, the completion of two expansion programs, both of which were specifically designed to meet the continuing demand for STANDARD brand products, were realized.

In the year 2011, PT Merpati Mahkota Sarana (PT MMS) transformed the corporate name to P.T. STANDARDPEN INDUSTRIES


The company's philosophy stresses consistency and uncompromising quality in all their products and since 2001, all STANDARD pen writing nibs , which are considered to be the most important components, have been produced in-house with State of heart Swiss tip making machines. In order to guarantee that only the best quality raw materials are used, all plastics and molds are globally sourced from the world's most reputable suppliers. All the processes of manufacturing, assembling, packaging, distributing and selling take place on Indonesian soil, and the company employs over 2000 employees and over 1000 outsourced sub assembler. Today, PT Standardpen Industries is S.E. Asia’s  largest writing instrument manufacturer and employer.
